Clutch Replacement
"I need a quote for a clutch kit replacement (unsure re: flywheel) and possibly clutch cable as well on an Opel Corsa B (lite version) manual transmission. Car has 200000km on the clock and the clutch has definitely not been replaced for the last 100000km which is what leads me to believe that that is the issue among other things.
A full explanation of the symptoms: Recently, the car has had 3 incidents in which it suddenly lost all of its gears completely. For the first two times, the problem disappeared after about 30 mins and only when the car had been pushed for forward for some unknown reason? The last time that the problem occurred it persisted and did not resolve, car was towed back to residence. This issue occurred when changing down to 2nd from a higher gear. The engine continues to run (ie the car does not cut out) but since you cannot engage any gear you are forced to stop the vehicle as safely as possible on the side of the road. The ignition does not cut out at any point during this until you turn the car off, so no gear is engaged at that point? Then you an start it again without an issue and when you attempt to engage first gear for eg, it allows you to depress the clutch and shift into gear but when you lift off the clutch it doesn't take at all, the car does not move forward and does not cut out (as it normally would if you lifted all the way off the clutch in gear when not moving forward). A soft grinding noise can be heard when you lift off the clutch and nothing happens. So at that point you can't engage any gear (also tried shifting straight into 2nd & 3rd). I don't know much about cars, does this sound like a clutch problem to you? Thanks! (apologies in advance for the long essay lol)"
