Catalytic Converter Replacement

"I had my gearbox repaired and after receiving my vehicle back the engine light was on. The message on the the dashboard is that I must check the it anti-pollution system. The light was not on when I took the car in for repairs. My car also received its annual service last week and the light is still on. Please advise and quote."
