ALERT!!! Do not use Glen Automan, Motorhead Rockin or Motorhead Autoworx!!! This serves as a warning to anyone looking to have repairs done by the three businesses listed above! My experience with this business owner started in October 2020, when I sent my car in for repairs and maintenance (Timing chain replacement on my car and diagnosis and repair of a rattling noise in my engine) and after an extremely long waiting period, got my car back only to then have everything go terribly bad. The owner/ mechanic of the businesses listed above showed gross negligence in not tightening the clamps that held the cams down which resulted in bolts jumping around in the head of the car which led to the vehicle coming to a grinding halt and costing me thousands upon thousands to repair, an action that I am still paying for ‘til this day despite him agreeing to carry some of the cost. When the vehicle was taken back to the aforementioned owner/ mechanic for him to fix his mistake I was told "I can get the car back to its prior condition but some preventative measures need to be taken in order to ensure the longevity of the motor". This seems pretty sincere right? He has admitted his fault and now wants to repair his wrongdoings? Wrong, all they wanted to do was take every cent possible, hike the prices of parts and continue telling lie after lie. Fast forward nearly 18 months and I still didn't have the car back, despite the weekly promise of "Nearly there buds". The "preventative measures" he charged me for included a new clutch, a new turbo and a host of other items, some of which I’m not sure even made it onto the car.The total cost of these preventative measures came to a staggering R48000.00!!! Eventually after waiting the aforementioned 18 months for the car, a decision to remove the car from the business premises was made! An additional decision was made to get the car to a mechanic that actually knew what they were doing, resulting in an additional spend of R20 000! The findings of the new mechanic were horrifying, and this time I was not going to just trust someone on their word! I myself saw the spiteful means and quite frankly the disgusting levels the owner of this business went to in order to cost me more money. Some of the findings made by not only the new mechanic but by industry specialists at an engineering company where I had to send the head to included sandpaper wedged between hydraulic lifters, sandpaper stuck onto the valves, a strange chemical in the oil pan which was later found out to be a highly corrosive degreaser mixed with an unknown fluid (suspicions are brake fluid) and a strange piece of plastic wedged in the oil pump itself. All of these clearly paint a picture of a man with not only very poor understanding of his trade but an even clearer picture of a childish attempt to sabotage the longevity of the car and motor. Due to this negligence and poor workmanship, the head and block needed to be remachined, new valves, new headgasket, new head studs and new cams had to be bought too, not to mention additional labour! The cams were so twisted from either the initial halting of the motor (due to cam clamps not being tightened down) or from the owner/ mechanic of this business’ attempts to time only one side of the motor and completely neglect the other by means of locking the cam in place and twisting the lobes to such an extent that they could no longer be used in the motor. I urge you to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE not use any of his businesses listed above, learn from my mistakes!!! I have lost time, money and even more importantly a great deal of faith in ever finding mechanics that actually do what they say and say what they do!
