I had the rear brake pad disks and front brake pads replaced at this establishment. Upon arrival, I was initially quoted R3,192.00 for the job. Subsequently, I received a revised quotation of R10,683.00, as they believed that my vehicle required new disks for the front brake system and new drums for the rear brake system. I was also informed that the disks and drums could no longer be "skimed." This was surprising to me; however, I felt compelled to proceed, as they had possession of my vehicle and I was at their mercy. When I collected my vehicle the following day, the cost had increased to R12,700.00, which now covered both the front and rear brake systems. Following this experience, I consulted several experts. I was advised that disks and drums can typically be "skimed" up to ten times. Furthermore, I was told that clear indications of the need for new disks and drums include unusual noises, vibration or pulsation, increased stopping distances, the vehicle pulling to one side, dashboard warning lights, or a burning smell. My vehicle showed none of these signs, suggesting that the disks and drums did not require replacement. Experts confirmed that, had replacement been necessary, the cost would have ranged between R8,500 and R9,500. This indicates I was overcharged by approximately R3,200 and paid for parts that were not necessary. In conclusion, I strongly recommend against utilizing their services. Additionally, the quotation claimed that the wheel bearings were greased. I subsequently had my vehicle’s wheel alignment and balancing serviced, during which I was informed that the front right wheel bearing needed replacement. This was promptly attended to. The organization responsible showed me the wheel bearing, which exhibited threads—a clear sign that MDS should have detected this issue. Remarkably, they had merely greased the wheel bearing on their own accord. I do not intend to let this matter rest and will pursue the appropriate course of action. If you consider other reviews you will find the same. A lady took her Land Rover in and when she arrived to collect the Vehicle she witnessed unused parts she paid for !
