Steering and Suspension - Other
"Good day, my father own a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 (X308) 4.0L V8 Supercharger that has a problem with the power steering assist cylinder. According to Jaguar at Bedforview (that has closed recently) the steering cylinder, which is a sealed unit, the seals have degraded and the whole unit needs to be replaced. Please could you quote me on either replacing the seals in the cylinder or replacing the whole cylinder?
Also the car has a strong smell of fuel inside when we drive the car. Going through the repair manual of the vehicle I suspect the problem to sit with the EVAP system and ORVR system, which if i am not mistaken should only work when the car is being filled up at the gas station. Could you possibly give a budget estimate as to the repair/replacement to free the car of the petrol smell?
Kind Regards,
Henk L. Barnard"
